Bandidos has been temporarily banned in Denmark since May 2024 and so far it has had no clear effect on Sweden, notes Mats Karlsson, head of the police intelligence unit in Region South.

There has been movement across borders since before, but we have not seen any movement to the Swedish side since the ban came in, says Mats Karlsson.

Now the Helsingör District Court has given the go-ahead for a permanent ban.

Swedish police now have the ability to issue a return travel ban if someone is deemed to pose a threat to order and security here.

If, against all odds, Danish motorcycle gang members think they can move their business to Sweden, we will use that against them. We have different tools than we had before.

He also notes that the gang ban does not mean that all members will stop committing criminal acts. But he welcomes the verdict and sees it as an important signal.

But the signal value should not be underestimated.
