"Radar is a powerful and long-awaited tool for the police to measure the speed of vehicles. Now we will be able to make our roads even safer for all road users," says Ursula Edström of the police in a comment.
The radar can be used to measure the speed of vehicles ahead of the police car or in oncoming traffic. The system works both when the police car is moving and when it is stationary.
The radar system "makes 18 measurements per second and has the capacity to target all vehicles moving within the radar's coverage area," the police write.
