According to the police, long-term work, including building relationships with other countries, is behind the increase in the number of arrests.
"This type of violence is unusual in many of these countries and something that people react strongly to and absolutely do not want. It helps us prioritise it," says Johan Olsson, head of the police's National Operations Department, Noa, to SVT.
Spain has been identified as a key location for Swedish gang criminals. A 21-year-old Swedish man was recently arrested there, suspected of being a leader in the so-called Dalen network. He is suspected of, among other things, aiding and abetting murder and attempted murder.
