The man noticed that the water in his bottles tasted strange and that the liquid level changed without him drinking. Hoping for an explanation, he set up a camera - and got visual evidence that his wife had dripped something into his water bottle. His wife was arrested, but the investigation was later closed.
Several years later, the case was reopened and in May the woman was charged with attempted murder. The Stockholm District Court points out in its ruling that it was a very protracted sequence of events and that the act was preceded by careful planning.
The woman has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
