Pittsburgh started strong and finished brilliantly. The team scored the first goal, via Sidney Crosby, midway through the first period. Philadelphia managed to reduce to 1–1, but then the losing team had no chance to catch up.
Erik Karlsson scored the 2–1 and 3–1 goals, both in the second period.
Pittsburgh pressed even in the third period, scoring two more goals.
American Bryan Rust played great and collected three points, via a goal and two assists. Sidney Crosby also impressed with his two goals.
