Pittsburgh player Caleb Jones has been suspended for 20 NHL games without pay after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance.

At the time of the doping test, Jones was receiving treatment for an injury from an outside healthcare provider, he said in a statement.

"While I did not use the prohibited substance intentionally or for performance enhancement, I understand that the players are responsible. I am sorry that I have let my teammates, the Penguins organization, and our fans down," Jones said.

This season, Jones has played seven NHL games for Pittsburgh.
