There is an economic crisis in the speedway club Piraterna. If the Motala team does not receive 1.6 million kronor by June 26, the club will be forced to withdraw from the league, it is written on their website.

One reason is the large decline in spectators compared to last year – a total of 1,300 fewer spectators on average per match. In addition, the club has had severe pitch problems where the season opener against Smederna had to be postponed.

“Given the well-known pitch problems, all the energy in the association has gone into ensuring that the pitch is brought to a drivable condition. An incredibly large number of man-hours have been spent on this, which has made it impossible to allocate any resources to sales, marketing, and seeking new partnership,” the club writes.

The club further writes that they have no debts but can see that the income will not cover the expenses to complete the season.
