Pippi Longstocking is turning 80 and is being celebrated on Children's Radio with a new version of Astrid Lindgren's classic readings. Now, Astrid's original voice is being mixed with three children playing the roles of Pippi, Tommy, and Annika.
Alice Sjögren Olkiewicz, 12 years old, plays Pippi herself. Tommy is played by Miller Morris, 13, and Annika's role is performed by Gloria Blomberg, 11.
"We are proud that Astrid Lindgren read 'Pippi Longstocking' on Swedish Radio as early as 1946, so it's naturally very fun to get the chance to develop it with new voices and music", says Per Palmqvist, executive producer at Children's Radio, in a press release.
Eva Staaf is directing. All episodes will be released on Swedish Radio Play on April 7. At the same time, a new page will be launched in the Swedish Radio Play app to make it easier to find all listening for children gathered in one place.
