The ice cream has previously been the only ice cream in the assortment at GB Glace, Sweden's largest ice cream company, that did not contain milk or had the labeling "may contain milk traces".
"The recipe for Piggelin has not changed, but given our safety routines, we have, with the consumers' best in mind, chosen to add the labeling 'may contain milk traces' on the packaging, even though it is painful for us", writes GB's marketing manager Charlotte Severed in an email to the newspaper.
The labeling "may contain" is used to warn that a product may contain allergens, even though they are not in the ingredient list, writes the newspaper.
