”Still life with guitar” – an oil painting on canvas valued at over 6.5 million kronor – disappeared during transport from Madrid to Granada, according to local authorities.

The oil painting was on its way to be displayed at an exhibition when it disappeared. Sources within the national police confirm that the disappearance of the painting is being investigated but provide no further details with reference to secrecy rules.

Thieves have long been attracted to Picasso's works due to their enormous value – in recent years, two of his paintings have been sold for over 140 million dollars at auction.

One of the most notable thefts occurred in 1976, when over 100 of his works were stolen from the Palais des Papes museum in Avignon, southern France. All the paintings were later found.

Picasso, born in 1881 in Málaga and deceased in 1973, is considered one of the most influential artists in history.
