The Swedish fashion trade has the wind in its sails and got off to a strong start this summer, according to the Swedish Chamber of Commerce.

Clothing sales increased by 4.4 percent and shoe sales by 4.6 percent compared with the same period last year.

Low-priced and premium garments sold particularly well.

While the low-price segment increased by 5.3 percent, premium increased by 5.5 percent.

Customers also do not seem to have abandoned physical stores. On the contrary, these were the driving force behind the rise, with clothing sales increasing by 5.4 percent. Shoe sales via e-commerce, in turn, increased by 5.9 percent.

"There is a lot of activity in both physical and digital stores. This is undoubtedly a sign that household finances are slowly but surely strengthening," says Sofia Larsen, CEO of Swedish Trade, in a press release.
