The 26-year-old Ting Bang Tsai is awarded for his book "Glamorous Aunt Jin Yun". In the collaboration between a young male photographer and a 72-year-old woman, questions about, among other things, beauty ideals and ageism are raised.
"It feels like a moment when a small place like Taiwan, and artists from here, get to be seen and heard" he says about the scholarship in the press release.
The 32-year-old Pawel Starzec is awarded for "Makeshift". In the book, he returns to places where people were executed and tortured in the Bosnian war, and combines photographs with testimonies.
