Philippine Police Find Child Abuse Material on Devices Linked to Thomas Markle Investigation

Three memory cards and a cellphone handed over by Meghan Markle’s half-brother contain child sexual abuse material, Philippine police say. The agency is investigating where the material came from and who it belonged to.

Last week, Philippine police said they were examining a laptop found at a home said to have once belonged to Thomas Markle, Meghan Markle’s father. Meghan is married to Britain’s Prince Harry.

"I am deeply shocked by the news that has come to light over the past 24 hours, and my thoughts go out to all the children who may have been harmed," Meghan Markle wrote in a statement after the allegations were made public.

After finding child abuse images at his father’s former home, Thomas Markle Jr. contacted police and handed over cellphones and memory cards, among other items. On Wednesday, Philippine police said child abuse material had also been found on the devices.

We need to determine where the material came from, who may be responsible, and whether Philippine law has been violated, Philippine National Police Commissioner Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement.

Thomas Markle has denied all the allegations against him.
