Philip Glass is considered one of the most influential composers of our time and will now be part of the Academy together with four other foreign musicians.

Among the Swedish names are court singer Malin Byström, jazz guitarist Ulf Wakenius and composer Mats Larsson Gothe. The Finnish violinist and conductor Pekka Kuusisto and Grammy-winning Esperanza Spalding are also elected as foreign members.

Philip Glass is known for works such as “Einstein on the Beach” and the film score for “The Hours.” His opera “Circus Days and Nights” premiered in Malmö in 2021.
