The streak battle seems to be alive until the end. With a few games left in the NHL regular season, only a few points separate several mid-table teams.
In the Eastern Conference, Philadelphia managed to get on the playoff train last night with a crucial victory against the New York Islanders. The result means that there is now only one point separating the teams.
A total of four teams in the conference now stand at 88 points, directly below the Islanders who, with 89 points, are in seventh place.
The consolation goal of the night for the Islanders was scored by Jean-Gabriel Pageau after a pass from Swedish player Simon Holmström, who was playing after a short injury layoff.
