The Norwegian hotel magnate Petter Stordalen was sentenced in the district court to pay 184 million Norwegian kronor in unpaid tax. Now the case will be settled in the lagmannsretten – equivalent to the Swedish court of appeal.

Stordalen appeared on Tuesday morning in the courtroom for the tax case that goes back more than ten years in time. The background is that the Norwegian businessman withdrew more than 795 million Norwegian kronor from the company Oslo Properties, which was later converted into Strawberry Fields, his current company where Stordalen's hotel business is included.

The Norwegian tax authority considered that Stordalen had not paid tax and also got it right in the district court, a verdict that Stordalen has contested.
