"What joy!", says Edward af Sillén in a press release, where he also appoints Mede to his "laughter sister".
Edward af Sillén has commented on all Eurovision Song Contest competitions on SVT since 2009 – except when Sweden was the host country in 2013 and 2016. Last year, he had a triple role as scriptwriter, director, and commentator.
Then, he received some criticism for not being able to objectively comment on the hosts' performance, since he had previously collaborated with Petra Mede and Malin Åkerman several times.
This year, there are no such obstacles. Both semifinals will be commented on by af Sillén alone, and in the final, Petra Mede will join the commentary booth to guide SVT's viewers through the competition. She has hosted Eurovision three times – but in this particular role, she makes her debut.
"It's the first time I have the honor of commenting on the Eurovision Song Contest, but it's thankfully not the first time I have the honor of working with Edward. The former makes me nervous and excited, the latter makes me feel safe and overjoyed", says Petra Mede in a press release.
Kaj will compete for Sweden in the first semifinal on May 13. If "Bara bada bastu" gets enough votes, the group will then participate in the final on May 17.
