We are not immune to the global trends where we see how democracy is being dismantled in large parts of the world and respect for human rights is being eroded, says Mårselius.

She has previously been secretary of the Gender Equality Commission (2014–2015) and most recently director-general of the Living History Forum.

Mårselius succeeds Lars Arrhenius, who announced in March that he intended to leave the DO post after six years.

In December last year, Arrhenius accused the government of being careless in its work on developing new legislation. He has opposed, among other things, lowering the age of criminal responsibility, tightening requirements for family immigration and visitation zones.
