The 25-year-old forward moved home from NHL last summer and chose to play for Rögle, despite great interest from his old club Frölunda.
But the time in Rögle has been tough and the prestigious recruit only scored six goals and eight points in 32 matches.
After playing a match with Rögle in Örnsköldsvik on Thursday evening, Peterson was informed of Frölunda's interest. When Rögle was willing to break the contract with Peterson, he went to Göteborg on Friday morning for a medical examination and training.
He has signed a contract until 2027 with Frölunda, the club he came to as a 16-year-old and where he played three SHL seasons.
It went really fast. It feels awesome, it feels a bit like being home again. It's going to be fun to get started, says Peterson to GP.
Jacob Peterson played the World Championship with Tre Kronor in 2022 and as recently as in November, he represented the national team in the Karjala Tournament.
Frölunda meets Örebro at home on Saturday.
