The plane was an Airbus A321 operated by Frontier Airlines, en route to Los Angeles, and was about to take off from Denver late Friday evening when the incident occurred.
An official has confirmed to ABC News that a fire broke out after a person was, at least partially, sucked into one of the plane's engines.
US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated in a post on X that the person jumped over a fence and ran onto the runway.
The plane's 224 passengers were evacuated via emergency slides. One passenger described how an engine exploded and that there was a lot of smoke inside the cabin.
Twelve passengers suffered minor injuries, five of whom were taken to hospital.
