The alarm about the live high-voltage cables came just before 9 pm on Wednesday evening.
It was a patrol that saw the cables had fallen down and a truck had gotten stuck in them, says Stockholm police's press spokesperson Daniel Wikdahl.
Guests at several restaurants in the area were forced to stay indoors due to the cables.
In connection with this, a person has been taken to hospital, but we do not know if the person was injured by the cables or something else, says Daniel Wikdahl.
The Royal Dramatic Theatre was also partially cordoned off and those who were there were helped by the police to get out.
At 11:30 pm, the street is still cordoned off.
The restaurants have been evacuated, now we are waiting to get the truck removed from there. The cables are so tense that we are afraid that a lash will occur when they are released, says the police's press spokesperson Pontus Sandulf.
The police have initiated a preliminary investigation into reckless endangerment and causing danger to others.
