Percussionist Christoffer Breman is this year's winner of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music's Soloist Prize competition.

"The winner has taken us on a musical journey with his joy of playing, his responsive interaction, his virtuoso technique and his stage presence. We hope to follow him for many years to come," the jury's motivation states.

The final between Breman and violinists Lorenz Karls and Marcus Bäckerud was decided at Gothenburg Concert Hall on Saturday and was broadcast live on Sveriges Radio P2.

The Soloist Prize is the Royal Swedish Academy of Music's largest award for young musicians and is given every two years. The winner receives 100,000 kronor, while the other two finalists receive 25,000 kronor each.
