Both President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have denied that the Iran war has depleted US stockpiles of materiel.
But a report from the Pentagon's independent oversight director shows that the military's stockpile of weapons and ammunition has declined sharply, NBC News reports. The shortage is blamed, among other things, on bottlenecks in the supply chain.
According to the report, the war from its start on February 28 to the end of June has cost $33.4 billion, equivalent to 326 billion kronor. This amount does not include damage to buildings and facilities - costs estimated at several billion dollars.
However, it appears that the ammunition, including drones, used up to June 30 cost $22.3 billion.
