U.S. Navy Secretary John Phelan will resign from his post “effective immediately,” the Pentagon said, without explaining why. He is “leaving the administration,” according to the statement.
The announcement comes after the Army Chief of Staff, General Randy George, and two other high-ranking military officers were removed from their posts earlier in April.
This comes as the U.S. has imposed a blockade on Iranian ports.
