The top U.S. commander in the Middle East, Admiral Brad Cooper, testified before the House of Representatives Defense Committee on Tuesday. He described the investigation into the attack on the school in the Iranian city of Minab on February 28 - which killed about 165 people, most of them children - as “more complex” than usual.
According to Cooper, the school is located in the same area as an Iranian missile-launch facility.
Adam Smith, the top Democrat on the committee, said he “didn’t trust that answer.”
"In the past, when we've had these kinds of mistakes, they've been quickly acknowledged," Smith said.
Cooper said he can be more transparent once the Pentagon's investigation is complete.
