The Svea Court of Appeal has increased the sentence from seven years and ten months in prison to eight years and six months for two aggravated rapes and three robberies in the Stockholm area last winter.

The man, who is in his 40s, worked as a case officer within social services at the time of the crimes and came into contact with the women through prostitution and escort websites. The robberies and rapes then took place in the women's homes after they had arranged to meet. In several of the crimes, the man threatened them with a knife and in one case with an airgun.

The man has been dismissed due to the crimes, which means that the sentence will be slightly lower than it would have been otherwise, according to the Court of Appeal.

The District Court stated in its verdict that the man's criminality had been carried out "systematically" and that the women were in vulnerable positions since he had gained access to their apartments.
