Olsson has both played for and coached Gefle for many years. Among other things, he became coach when the team was promoted to the Allsvenskan in 2005 and remained until 2016. He has since been at Djurgården, AFC Eskilstuna, Sandviken and Halmstad.
He is now leaving his role as a scout for Djurgården to take over from the fired manager Rawez Lawan.
"Gefle IF has been a big part of my life for many years. I have been at the club for different periods, but in total it is almost 28 years and for that reason it means a lot to me personally," he tells the club's website.
Gefle now plays in Ettan Norra.
