Wålemark previously spoke out during the Nations League gathering in Stockholm about his dark time at the Dutch major club Feyenoord.
As a 20-year-old and newly professional in the winter of 2022, he endured something that could almost be compared to bullying from people at the club.
“Super spontaneous”
"You thought everything they said was a given. I listened very carefully and took in everything they said to me, which made me feel like I lost a little bit of myself," said the former Häcken player at a press conference last week.
After making his starting debut in Blågult against Poland on Monday evening, he said it was not something he had planned in advance.
It was super spontaneous. I'm usually so neutral in all interviews, but there was no intention of bringing it up. That's how it turned out anyway, and it's not something I regret.
A relief to talk about it?
Yes, it will be. Generally in life it's always good to talk about things, then to do it in a national team meeting I don't know. It's something new, says the Polish Lech Poznan professional and laughs.
He came on against Romania on Friday (2–1), but was given the start against Poland and hit the cross that striker Viktor Gyökeres sent into the goal to make it 3–1 in the 72nd minute.
"We talked at halftime about the back area, so once I got it on the edge, I just had to hit it and I knew he would be there," says the 24-year-old.
Teammates praised Wålemark after the match.
The pass was perfect, there was nothing wrong with it. I think he got around his wing well many times and created many dangerous chances. A great effort, says Gyökeres.
