The American had one assist - and thus reached a total of 1,375 points during his NHL career. The 37-year-old, who is in his 19th season in the league, broke the scoring record for players born in the United States.
"I've never really thought about any American scoring records or being one of the best American players of all time," Kane told NHL.com.
Mike Modano - who played 20 years in the league for the Minnesota North Stars/Dallas Stars and finished his career in Detroit - was previously the leading American scorer.
