Two patients who sought emergency care at the hospital in Kalix received a dose of morphine that was ten times stronger than the one prescribed, writes NSD. The patients are said to have experienced breathing difficulties as a result of the dose.
It is believed to have been a mistake where the nurse gave the patients what she thought was an ampoule of pre-mixed morphine – but which turned out to be unmixed.
Region Norrbotten has reported itself to the Inspection for Care and Welfare (Ivo) after the incident.
