A coalition of states - including New York and California - filed a lawsuit this summer to block the deal, which is worth the equivalent of about $800 billion, on the grounds that it would “eliminate competition.”
According to sources including AP and CNN, Paramount Skydance has now reached an agreement with state prosecutors who handled the case, which would in practice mean that the last obstacle to the purchase has disappeared.
