According to documents filed with the court by Paramount, the acquisition is not expected to be completed until June next year.
The announcement comes after prosecutors in several US states, including California, filed lawsuits to try to block the deal on anti-competitive grounds.
In a statement, Paramount describes the whole thing as a "significant victory" and says it is the fastest way to show that the deal "is good for competition, good for consumers and good for creators."
"We look forward to proving our case in court," the company writes.
The acquisition - for $110 billion, equivalent to around SEK 1,000 billion - was given the green light by the European Commission as recently as Wednesday.
