Matías Galarza's goal in the second minute was enough. Paraguay's World Cup dream is alive while Turkey's has faded.
Paraguay pulled off the victory despite playing with a man down for the entire second half. In added time in the first half, Paraguay's Miguel Almirón was seen saying something to Turkey's Mert Müldür.
The problem? Almirón covered his mouth, which is punishable by a red card from this World Cup onwards. Referee Iván Barton reviewed the incident with VAR and then sent off Almirón.
The new rule came into effect after last season's Champions League when Benfica's Gianluca Prestianni was suspected of making racist remarks towards Real Madrid's Vinicius Júnior while he was covering his mouth.
