Two tandem paragliders crashed into a festive crowd in the ski resort of Sankt Anton am Arlberg in the Austrian Alps on Thursday. Two young Swedish women were injured and one of them was taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter.
The accident occurred on Thursday afternoon, report Austrian media. Dozens of people, including the two Swedish women, were participating in an outdoor party in the snow when a paraglider with two people suddenly crashed among them.
For unknown reasons, the two suddenly lost height and began heading towards a group of 30 to 40 people who had set up an ice bar in the deep snow and were having a snow party, says an investigator to Kronen Zeitung.
The two Swedish women who were injured are reportedly in their 20s. It is not clear how severe their injuries are. None of the other party participants are said to have suffered any serious injuries.
