A parachuter who participated in a national championship is life-threateningly injured after landing on Fullerö golf course in Västerås.

The man has been operated on urgently for his injuries, according to a patient injury report from Region Västmanland, reports VLT.

The alarm to SOS came at 12.12 on Friday, and police, ambulance and rescue services were sent to the scene. According to VLT, it was two golfers who saw the landing and alerted SOS.

Expressen writes that the man participated in a Swedish Championship competition that is ongoing in Västerås, and that he jumped together with nine others.

He must have got a malfunction on his parachute. I do not know exactly what happened, but the parachute has tangled up in some way and it has not flown as it should. He landed very hard and not on the field where he was supposed to land, but on the golf course, says Anna Oscarson, communications manager at the Swedish Parachute Association, to the newspaper.

Oscarson describes the man as a "very experienced jumper".
