The House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed Bondi to testify on April 14.

Politicians in both parties are critical of the Justice Department's handling of the investigation into the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, saying it has not complied with a congressional demand that all documents held by the department be made public.

"As Attorney General, you are directly responsible," wrote committee chairman Republican James Comer to Bondi.

Republican Rep. Nancy Mace, who has been pushing the issue hard, has previously called the Justice Department's handling "one of the greatest cover-ups in American history."

Bondi was questioned about the Epstein investigation by the same committee in February.
