Last week, he was sentenced by Malmö District Court to four months in prison for incitement to racial hatred and defamation, a verdict he says he will appeal.

On Tuesday, a trial was held in the Copenhagen City Court (District Court) regarding statements in video clips posted on a YouTube channel belonging to Paludan's party, Stram Kurs.

He himself claims that the video clips were posted by someone else connected to the party and that this was not something that was approved by him in advance. The recordings were made, according to the prosecutor, in 2018 and 2019. In one, he makes statements about Islam and Muslims, in the other about Somalis.

Stram Kurs' YouTube channel was shut down in February 2020. The verdict against Rasmus Paludan is expected on November 22.
