The Israeli military is investigating an incident in the occupied West Bank where two Palestinians were shot on Thursday after they surrendered to Israeli forces.

The high-profile shooting in Jenin was filmed, images of which have been published by an Egyptian television company. The film shows how the two men walk out of a house with their hands in the air. They are ordered by the military to lie on the ground, whereupon they are shot at close range by the soldiers.

In the recorded video, the soldiers can be heard saying that they defied the military's orders and entered a house, and not out, as the images show, writes the Jerusalem Post .

The Palestinian Authority accuses the Israeli military of "deliberate war crimes" after what it describes as summary executions of the two men.

The Israeli military states that the men were suspected of "terrorist activity" and that they were forced out of a building - according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the military also used rocket launchers, which they fired at the house, according to witnesses.

"After they came out, fire was opened on them. The incident is being investigated," they wrote in a joint statement with the police.

The ultranationalist Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir expresses his “full support” for the soldiers who shot the men.

"The forces acted exactly as they are expected to act - terrorists will die!" the minister writes on X.
