The 54-year-old man was shot dead during an Israeli raid near Ramallah on Tuesday. According to his brother, the military launched the raid around 4 a.m.
The Israeli military says it shot at a person who “attempted to seize a soldier’s weapon.”
Since the start of the Gaza war, violence in the West Bank has steadily increased. More than 1,100 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers or settlers, according to an AFP tally. During the same period, around 50 Israelis have been killed in the Palestinian territory, which has been occupied by Israel since the 1967 Six-Day War.
