The information about Abbas comes after the US State Department announced a continued visa ban for Palestinian officials - according to The New York Times, citing their efforts to "internationalize the Israeli-Palestinian conflict."
It is said, among other things, that Palestinian politicians have attempted to file lawsuits in international tribunals such as the International Court of Justice in The Hague (ICJ).
The Palestinian Authority (PA), which runs limited Palestinian self-rule in the West Bank, calls the decision "unjust", according to AFP.
Last year, 80 Palestinian officials were denied visas to the United States for the annual UN General Assembly, after the PA and the Palestinian umbrella organization, the PLO, were accused of “glorifying terrorism.”
