This quarter was out of this world, said the company's CEO, Alex Karp, on Monday in a speech, according to Bloomberg.
Revenue rose 93 percent to $1.94 billion, compared with an expected $1.80 billion, according to CNBC. Earnings per share came in at 41 cents, compared with an expected 35 cents.
Revenue from the US government increased by 90 percent compared with the previous year to $809 million.
The company is widely known for selling its software to the US government and military, but revenue from its commercial operations also increased sharply, rising 149 percent to $764 million, compared with the same period last year.
The company is now raising its full-year revenue forecast to between $8.1 billion and $8.16 billion, up from a previous forecast of $7.65 billion to $7.66 billion.
The stock is up about 10 percent in US after-hours trading since the report was released on Monday.
