The statement comes as Afghanistan carries out new attacks against Pakistani forces on the border between the countries.

"Following airstrikes in Kabul, Kandahar and other provinces, extensive response operations have once again been launched against Pakistani soldiers' positions," Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said on X.

Pakistan says it has attacked the cities of Kabul and Kandahar in Afghanistan. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar says that military targets belonging to the Taliban were the targets of Pakistan's attacks on Kabul and Kandahar. The AFP news agency reported that several loud explosions and gunfire were heard in the Afghan capital, Kabul. Aircraft were also reported to have been heard over the city.

Pakistan's military carried out airstrikes on the Afghan border provinces of Nangarhar and Paktia over the weekend. At least 70 members of militant groups were reported to have been killed, a claim denied by the Afghan side. According to the Taliban regime, dozens of civilians were among the dead.

Both countries accuse each other of the recent escalation.
