The attacks were aimed at hideouts and bases of what are called terrorists in the border area. A ground operation was followed by air strikes.

Pakistani Information Minister Attaullah Tarar wrote on Platform X that it was a response to a series of attacks on Pakistan. The incident comes a day after a regional military headquarters in the Pakistani port city of Karachi was attacked and three soldiers were killed.

Pakistan has repeatedly struck targets in Afghanistan as a result of the conflict that has flared up between the countries. The Pakistani government has accused the Afghan Taliban regime of supporting and harboring Pakistani resistance groups.
