Almost a day after the US attack on targets in Iran, reactions are now coming from several quarters.

Mediation country Pakistan urged both the US and Iran to exercise restraint on Wednesday evening. "Pakistan urges all parties to uphold their respective commitments," the country's foreign ministry wrote in a statement, according to AFP.

The British prime minister says the past day has been "undeniably challenging" and emphasizes the importance of the parties returning to a ceasefire.

"It is incredibly important for the region and for the world," said Keir Starmer, according to the BBC.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres wants the conflict to be immediately de-escalated, according to a statement from his spokesperson, AFP reports.
