So far this year, three so-called "package guards" have been sentenced to a total of 16.5 years in prison for receiving drug packages.

A man in his 30s is now being charged, suspected of being the ringleader.

The charges follow an investigation that found 1,425 narcotics tablets during a house search. Mobile phones with chat conversations about how the drugs were sold were seized during the arrest.

"Package 'gatekeepers' are often offered up to 5,000 kronor to receive packages in various chats and are drawn into serious drug smuggling, which can result in over five years in prison if convicted," says Kristian Johansson of Swedish Customs in a press release.
