Bernengo has been Head of Asset Management at the pension manager since December 2023. He has previously been Head of Asset Management at the Third AP Fund and Öhman Fonder.
“We have evaluated both external candidates and highly qualified internal candidates,” says Alecta's Chairman of the Board Magnus Hall.
Hall adds that Bernengo "has been central in developing and implementing the extensive improvement measures in governance and risk management that Alecta has implemented in recent years."
Bernengo will take up the position on September 1.
Last month, Alecta announced that current CEO Peder Hasslev will retire this fall after three years in the position.
This spring, Alecta received a warning from the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority for lack of risk control in connection with investments in Heimstaden Bostad.
