Joakim Paasikiivi, who was previously a lieutenant colonel and teacher of military strategy at the Swedish National Defense University in Stockholm, became known to the Swedish people in connection with Russia's war of invasion against Ukraine.
On Saturday, he received his doctoral hat at Jönköping University.
"Joakim Paasikivi has long made outstanding contributions as a public educator and analyst in security policy, geopolitics and international relations - areas of great relevance to social science research and sustainable social development," was part of the motivation when he was appointed honorary doctor earlier this year.
