It is the University of Oxford in the UK that has initiated the world's first phase 1 trial of a similar vaccine, reports Swedish Radio Ekot.

The researchers are now looking for 50 healthy adults to test safety and immune response and will be able to start vaccinating the first volunteers within a couple of weeks, according to the radio.

Almost 900 people have been confirmed dead from Ebola in Congo-Kinshasa since the outbreak in May this year. In total, more than 2,000 people have been found to be infected with the disease.
