Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) promised the support in her New Year's speech, citing sharply rising food prices. Now her government has finished the political negotiations and has presented the food support.
Families with children where both parents earn less than about 700,000 kronor a year will receive a food voucher worth 7,000 kronor. If the family's income is higher, the payment will be halved. About 3,500 kronor will also be paid to many pensioners, students and unemployed people.
A total of SEK 6.4 billion has been allocated for the initiative.
