It was in April 2024 that the police and customs, after surveillance, established that there were large quantities of cocaine in containers at Norvik's harbor in Nynäshamn.
Five people were arrested when they picked up bags from the container, and after a comprehensive investigation, 17 people are now being prosecuted for, among other things, aggravated drug offenses, according to a press release from the Prosecution Authority.
The investigation shows that several of the defendants have ties to a criminal network. One of them is being prosecuted for incitement to aggravated drug offenses and incitement to attempted murder. One of the main suspects is abroad and has been detained in absentia.
The value of the narcotics in street value is estimated to be over 1.2 billion kronor.
In the investigation, the police, the Customs Service, and the prosecutor have collaborated with the police in Finland and Europol.
